Caribbean House, Little Cayman is a great reflection of what Little Cayman is and has to offer as a Caribbean Island, providing the perfect balance between luxury living and laid back island paradise. There are few places in the Caribbean and even within the world that are able to offer the delights of a tropical island along with the creature comforts you’d rather not leave at home. Little Cayman offers quintessential Caribbean island life with a “Little” bit extra, small in population and size: around two hundred and fifty people living on a land mass of around ten square miles, Little Cayman is approximately ten miles long and has an average width of one mile but there is nothing diminutive when contemplating the scale of its natural beauty.
As you approach Little Cayman from the air and before land even hoves into view the variation of colours in the sea below are a delight to behold, the deep waters reflected in the magnificent mauves and deep purples graduating through every shade of blue until they reach the shallow sandy shores turning an iridescent green and turquoise, as the De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter makes it descent towards the short airstrip of Edward Bodden Aiport below you can almost feel any residual stress of city life just seeping away and in its place, that warm feeling of anticipation and relaxation. Little Cayman really is a place where many different worlds collide and although if you’ve just flown in from New York you may be on the same time zone, it will feel as if you’re in a different age! A warm cheery welcome as you step down a couple of steps off the plane, a wry smile to yourself as you walk past a sign that says Terminal 1, Gate A on a two roomed airport building no more than 400sqft and warm friendly locals that wave when ever you pass them in the car, this is Little Cayman.
Don’t be fooled, although car doors and front doors are rarely if ever locked and security is not even thought of, once you pull into the driveway of Caribbean House on the peaceful North Side you will realize that you haven’t been transported back in time but that this is a different kind of place where old time values haven’t been replaced by modern technology but sit happily side by side. So although Caribbean House sits overlooking the Caribbean Sea enjoying an ocean view that hasn’t changed much in a thousand years, the house itself has been painstakingly designed combining local knowledge with the latest in high quality materials to provide a home that is both aesthetically pleasing and very low maintenance.
Exterior windows & doors are all screened so that you can take advantage of the prevailing breeze but they are also manufactured with energy efficient high impact glass, which means that the electricity required to run your state of the art A/C system will be less & you will never have to worry about hurricane shutters. If you live in a world where security is not an issue then the floor plan of a house is only constrained by the best possible design, hence at Caribbean House you will find all 4 bedrooms on the ground floor with easy access straight out onto the deck and beach. The ensuite master bedroom doubles up as a self contained apartment with sitting area, kitchen and separate entrance it can be left open or locked off from the main house allowing maximum flexibility whether you are travelling with family or staff, it also has a large deck with extraordinary ocean views.
Ascend a solid mahogany helix spiral staircase, a feature in its own right, to reach the great room situated on the second floor to enjoy maximum impact from the ocean views, the cooling breeze and to allow a spectacular vaulted cathedral ceiling finished with solid cedar. The great room is serviced by a large kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops and leads out to a large deck which allows for perfect inside/outside living. Add a boat dock to provide easy access to diving and fishing via the nearby cut.
